VSD-E/XE firmware releases
VSD-E and VSD-XE drives have two main operating modes: Evolution and DualDC. Evolution is an advanced single servo motor mode for AC, BLDC, brush DC and linear motors while DualDC converts drive to two-axis brush DC servo drive with reduced feature set. Factory default is the Evolution mode.
This page lists publicly released firmware files for VSD-E/XE.

Usage
Firmware files may be loaded to drive by using GDlfasher program that is supplied in DCtool & GDflasher package.
Configuration
Evolution firmware must be configured by using GDtool software and DualDC must be configured with DCtool software only. If you mix configuration software and firmware, re-flash firmware to the drive as wrong configuration tool might cause broken configuration and unexpected problems. Flashing firmware always resets all parameters to factory state.
Standard firmware
Evolution
The latest version number is 210.
- Version 211 BETA - Download
- Implement "PWM magic trick" which increases maximum effective output voltage by 16%. For more info, read this.
- Version 210 - Download
- When installed on VSD-E-160, it will get the current limits of VSD-XE-160. No differences on VSD-XE hardware.
- Version 208 - Download.
- The factory default firmware of VSD-E-160 and VSD-XE-160
DualDC

Modified firmware files
These firmwares are modified from standard FW and haven't gone through as extensive testing as standard FW. However based on customer feedback, no problems are found.
Evolution
- Alternative 1
No error recovery motion and overcurrent fault tolerance adjustments. This firmware lets motor stand still after clear faults command is issued (standard behavior tries to drive motor back to commanded position). Also overcurrent tolerance has been increased to avoid overcurrent faults. Download.
- Alternative 2
Overcurrent fault tolerance adjustments. In this firmware overcurrent tolerance has been increased to avoid overcurrent faults. Download.
Using overcurrent fault tolerance adjusted firmware may render short circuit protection ineffective. If motor output is short circuited or loaded improperly, drive may be permamently damaged. Use only at own risk. Before use, verify that there is no short circuits and verify that drive works also with standard FW. |
DualDC
- Alternative 1
No error recovery motion. This firmware lets motor stand still after clear faults command is issued (standard behavior tries to drive motor back to commanded position). Download.
