It is possible to build SimpleMotion V2 compatible communication interface device from commonly available parts. This article gives instructions of making one from the parts listed below.
- 1pcs FTDI's USB to RS485 adapter cable, USB-RS485-WE-1800-BT
- 1pcs Non-cross linked RJ45 cable (cable will be cut, so one cable is good up to two adapters)
- 2pcs 620 to 680 ohm leaded resistors
- 1pcs 6 pole terminal block
- 1pcs cable tie
These parts are available from most electronics component distributors, such as Farnell, Mouser and Digikey.
Assembly guide[edit | edit source]
Troubleshooting[edit | edit source]
If connection to device do not work, or is unstable, check that all wires are well connected to the terminal block. Sometimes terminal block screw may be pressing on wire insulator preventing good electrical contact. Try reconnecting wires if trouble persists.
